chanel boyfriend, chanel boyfriend watch, chanel pop up nyc, chanel boyfriend pop upChanel created a Coco Club, an exclusive pop-up lounge inspired by their latest “boy-friend” watch by taking over the Wing and it was as fabulous as you’d expect.  Taking over and transforming the Wing which is an all-women’s workspace and social club in the chic Soho neighborhood of Manhattan was a smart move given they were building off the traditional men’s club idea -but for women.  And for Coco’s Club this had to include endless branded photo opps cuz that’s what Chanel fans in this day and age want!  Everywhere you looked there were black and white vignettes with classic Chanel timepieces, signature logos and pretty spots to pose at.  And befittingly, social media stars, fashionistas and Chanel crazed fans flocked in with their tweed, chain purses and CC logos…including US!  It was like we all knew we had to wear Coco’s fashion uniform in order to gain entrance into this premier club lol.  The people watching was insane.   Who brought and dressed their dogs in Chanel couture??  Yes people I am not kidding… see my IG story for evidence before it disappears!

Our club card instructed us that after checking in we should:  explore in the library, get glam in the locker room, linger in the cafe and unwind in the game room.  So we did!  Exploring the library consisted of browsing black folders all numbered in the signature Chanel style and then taking a seat and sketching, scribbling or writing notes on the branded papers and postcards.  You can bet I made sure to take home extras as souvenirs.  The Chanel stickers and Coco black pencils were our fav!

The Coco cafe was a sunlit room where I happily people-watched while eating a complimentary chicken sandwich and hourglass lemonade (which was a black drink made with activated charcoal and a branded, CC drink stirrer). How will regular lemonade ever compare now I wondered..chanel nyc pop up, chanel nyc, chanel pop up eventSurrounding the room and all throughout the space you could find snarky quotes with a watch or men’s club sort of theme to them which helped focus the attention on the masculine-styled timepieces which were the real star of the event.  chanel boyfriend, chanel event, chanel nyc

After eating, you could get your lipstick touched up in the beauty room or call your favorite fashionable friend.Juliet said she wanted to meet Coco Chanel and I had to break it to her that she wasn’t going to be able to…  We did however end the night with a children’s bedtime book that my friend bought us all about the life of Gabrielle Chanel, AKA Coco Chanel!

Our Coco Card instructed us to “unwind in the game room.” And so we did.  We played ping pong with branded paddles, shopped the quilted display cases and even took turns being Chanel sharks at the pool table.

What an incredible day!  We will surely remember this fun mommy and me outing each time we carry our purses and wear anything reminiscent of Coco.  This pop-up was open to the public just one day only unfortunately.  I will try to blog about the last pop-up that we attended another time.

For our Back-To-School Brainiac Bash, we were so happy to have Mabels Labels as one of the goody bag sponsors.  They were the perfect brand to tie into the celebratory school kick-off season since their handy, customizable labels are so perfect for lunch boxes, backpacks, and the extra clothes stored at school.  Have you heard of Mabels Labels?  They are the most trusted label provider for durable, customizable and cute labels!  They stick on everything: clothes, shoes, sports equipment, sippy cups..the list goes on.

Any parent knows that we are constantly susceptible to losing any one of these items while commuting, strolling around or simply leaving things behind from destination to destination.  These microwave-safe, laundry-safe, dishwasher safe labels are wayyyy better than the masking tape and scribbly name that our parents resorted to. Be the mommy superstar that you know you want to be and start school, camp, daycare and everyday right with the coolest identification in town.  With celebrity mom endorsements coming from everyone from Victoria Beckham to Gwyneth Paltrow to Heidi Klum and Reese Witherspoon, you know you’re onto something!

Besides being entirely innovative, and handy I loved how customizable they were!  You could choose from tons of designs.  Being that I have a princess-obsessed 4 year old who loves purple and pink, I chose for her this adorable tiara design below that included her full name and my phone number in case anything got lost (and found).

organizational labels, mabels labelsThey also had Hello Kitty, and a myriad of other popular graphic designs.  The perfectionist in me is sooo happy with these perfectly pretty labels.  It satisfies whatever OCD I have and I can’t get over how I’m able to wash, wear and launder these things!!  How amazing is that?  And they’re perfect for little kids trying to figure out their left vs. right shoe.  They make these ingenious stickers that are vertically pre-cut in half so the child can visually match them up to complete the picture and figure out which shoes goes on which foot!shoe labels, school suppliesHooray!!

What would YOU get??

We were excited to take our mermaid-obsessed, 4-year old to National Geographic’s Encounter: Ocean Odyssey in Times Square because it was the first of its kind to immerse you in an under-the-sea experience without requiring you to know how to swim!  (I’m the only one in our family who can so that was a relief!)  This cool new National Geographic Encounter allows you to virtually swim under and across the Pacific Ocean overnight, from Asia to California and explore the magical underworld that is their 60,000 square foot entertainment experience all without getting wet.  By harnessing ground-breaking technology (think video mapping, 3D effects, 8K photo real animation, enveloping sound system, mega projection screens, and“real-time” audience tracking),  you’re transported and traveling underwater.

national geographic ocean odyssey, national geographic encounter, things to do times squareThis first room really took my breath away.  With the floor to ceiling screen and the touch-sensitive projections on the floor, you really feel immersed in this underwater scene. ocean odyssey, national geographic encounter, national geographic ny, national geographic times squareYou can expect to encounter dolphins, sharks, stingrays and whales and may find your kids either mesmerized in one spot or chasing after them as they swim by.  It’s a sight to see and so fun for the kids to watch!

After the timed portion ends, you and the group follow the hosts who act as your tour guides and direct you into the reef room where you’ll find that coral glows beneath you and smaller creatures can be found if you look closely.  The production quality is truly remarkable.  I loved taking in every detail from the kelp forest to the underwater sounds of the most mysterious and mighty sea creatures.

And the interactive elements like the kelp mirror maze which we let Juliet lead us into and out of were truly engaging!Playing with sea lions and having them mirror our every move was so much fun!  Juliet tried to teach them ballet and some of her signature twirls lol

Overall, the blockbuster digital technology wowed us all – even my geeky husband who thought he was up on the latest and greatest in technology was seriously impressed with the 40 foot 3-D dome room.  new york acquarium, nyc acquarium We just wish that part of the experience had lasted longer!

new york things to do, times square things to do ,digital acquarium, nyc fish, national geographic odyssey, national geographic encounterOverall, the visuals are truly stunning. The creators and producers of National Geographic Encounter, have engaged a world-class global team of Academy, GRAMMY®, and Emmy® Award-winning artists, including the design firm Falcon’s Creative Group and the visual effects team behind “Game of Thrones,” to produce this never-before-seen experience.  Everything from the majestic ocean soundscape across the 230 loudspeakers and 180 independent sound channels to the creative set design and cinematic quality forge to create an incredible state-of-the-art immersion.

You totally forget you’re in the bustling center of Times Square.  I love experiences that make me feel ‘present’ and in the moment.  Too often we are rushing and racing around whether physically or in our minds.  This experience had a calming, meditative effect on me that reminded me to enjoy the ‘now.’ Plus I’m happy to report that my little one learned a thing or two and piqued her interest in the underwater world.  Instead of talking just about mermaids, she now chats about squids, how large whales are and coral too!    People varied in their reviews of whether they liked that the bulk of the education and information was found at the end of the experience.  I preferred it that way.  I liked that nothing interrupted the sensory experience I was having in each room.  And this way I could explore whatever topics most piqued my interest at the end by finding the sound dome to stand under that matched the visual I loved.  Here, kids of all ages could learn through touch screens, audio-visuals, and taped interviews with marine biologists.

And in the end, Juliet had so much fun browsing the gift shop where she got to take home a fun souvenir to remind her of her newfound interests.

Last week, I got to join FIDI Families and other NYC Mommy bloggers out for a fun cooking class with Butter Beans Kitchen at their new Battery Park location inside Asphalt Green.  On the Menu: Jeweled Pomegranate Rice Pilaf, Sweet Potato Hummus, Kofta Kebab with Seasonal Market Veggies, and Honey Pistachio Baklava.  The Mediterranean menu sounded exotic and I knew I was in for a fun night out including a complimentary wine tasting by Simply Wine.  butter beans kitchen , nyc cooking class I guess Juliet was right.  Moms do drink wine at their “mommy play dates!” cooking class nyc ny cooking class, nyc cooking class

We all had a bunch of fun thanks to the easygoing and super approachable chef who taught us handy tips along the way including how to best cut an onion, tell if your oil is heated and what not to do to with your knife in order to avoid dulling it.  She was terrific at explaining step-by-step and was unbelievably not phased at all by our social-media obsessed crew who constantly had camera-in-hand documenting each and every instruction, step and photo opp.

These foreign dishes were surprisingly easy to make and tasty too!  My favorite recipes from the night included the pomegranete rice pilaf and the sweet potato hummus.
