From attending NY Fashion Week, I spotted some continuing trends from as far back as fall 2011 and earlier. One of the continuing trends was the cropped pencil pant which I just adore. Bebe’s fashion show was a case in point. You can expect many more slim, cropped styles in prints and solids. Here were a couple of their basic black options.
Check out my video of the finale below
or view the full-length video shot by Bebe here
I own plenty of Bebemyself so it was exciting to have been able to have scored a front row seat. All in all, I found the madmen – inspired fashions ladylike and very fabgab. You may be seeing a few of their pieces in my closet and style diarysoon!

The grey hoodie dress hid the hair but it sure wasn’t hiding her badunkadunk. Though she stood at the opposite end of the room, I instantly recognized that famous bubble butt and knew the Kardashian knockout had arrived (late 35min. to her own Bebe show at that but she had ARRIVED!

“I’m wearing an outfit from our line. I think we just wanted stuff that was sexy and edgy and represented me Kourt and Khloé.” – Kim
“I think the show went really well. Everyone was so anticipating this line and you know it’s been a long morning of excitement. It’s always a big rush backstage and I’m just so glad that I was able to sit in the front row and enjoy the show and just see how the pieces fit on the models and you know, when they’re walking, the flow of it and you know it was such a great feeling to sit in the front row and know that these are my pieces that I’ve designed and um it’s really really a great feeling.” – Kim after the show
Here’s a video of Kim getting interviewed (it seems she’s not the best at using proper sentences). If you see the Asian girl wearing pink in front row, that’s me.
From the lack of attendance, it seemed the press wasn’t brave enough to scurry through the NY blizzard for Kim Kardashian’s Bebe fashion show. Scary weather means lots of empty front row seats for me to “have” to fill! Today, I sat opposite Jay Manuel from America’s Next Top Model and felt compelled to shoot him and his lovely Prada murse.
Here’s a video that features Jay getting interviewed (AND me and Susie sitting front row off to the right of the model’s entrance area!)
Here are some of the nicer looks from the show. Very Kim (i.e. short, tight-fitting, sexy and party – ready). Perfect partnership. Sitting across from Jay allowed me to capture both the fashions from a front-row view and Jay’s reactions to each and every look.
I’m watching “What Not to Wear” and enjoying all the makeovers. I love a good transformation.
So many times leopard is featured as a don’t. But it’s not a general rule. Leopard can be chic if done right. I think it’s all in the fabric, and amount shown. Little touches of leopard can be fun and fabulous and dresses with the right scale and fabric can be very stylish. See here for my style diary entry with one of my leopard dresses.
Here’s another leopard dress of mine, this time with more of a metallic finish. I love it because it has pockets! This is what I wore to work.
Dress is by Jessica Howard. tuxedo blazer by Bebe, Prada handbag, Zara heels, Kate Spade earrings, Chanel sunglasses

Every time I wear this blazer, I get compliments. And each time, I can’t help but think how $30 at H&M goes such a long way.
Forever 21 lacy tank, Express bracelets, necklace from Jasmine (boutique in MA), and I don’t remember the skirt, shoes / purse brands
Here’s another outfit with the same blazer, this time with a Zara black blouse, Victoria’s Secret pants & Rebecca Minkoff purse – I wore this to work.
Below is another work outfit. This time, I wore it with a polka Dot Lord & Taylor bow-tie blouse, a Bebe pencil skirt that has leather strips down the sides that you can’t see, Jcrew heels and bracelets and a pair of Chanel sunglasses.
Here is another fellow fashion blogger who wore it with glitter and lace and then again with military cargo pants. Isn’t she cute?
And here is yet another blogger wearing MY blazer 🙂 boy, is it popular!
I love it all. The girly girl in me cannot resist the shiny shiny. I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to what I call glitter fashion (which you can view here).
Here are two outfits incorporating a shiny sequin top for work.
Saks had sold a bunch of sequin sweaters like this. Alice & Olivia being one of the brands that sold one for about $200. I found this one at H&M for about $30 and was surprised at the value I got given it was sequined both front and back – they didn’t skimp! Here I paired it with my Bebe tuxedo blazer and a pair of black pants that I rolled up -they’re an oldie from H&M and the booties are from Aldo.
Here, I’m wearing the same pants with my Vince sweater that I purchased at off 5th, a free bracelet from the Forever 21 spring fashion presentation(can’t remember the brands for the other accessories and shoes) and yet another H&M sequin top for a fraction of the price.
How do you feel about sequins? And have you figured out how to incorporate them into your everyday work wear?
Isn’t this shoe closet amazing? It’s Christina Aguilera’s. Besides the fuschia, black white combo, what also caught my eye were the chandeliers and houndstooth. I’m loving houndstooth these days. Not knowing there was such a word to describe the pattern, my husband once described this print as the computerized digital print. Haha he is so NOT into fashion. Here’s my outfit which was inspired by the room above.
Here, I’m wearing a H&M dress with an exposed zipper in the back which you can’t see, a tuxedo blazer from Bebe’sclearance rack and heels by Zara. The purse was cheap so I think the whole outfit only costed about $150.
The Style 360 lounge at the Metropolitan Pavillion didn’t just house the Bebe fashion show which I wrote about here, it also showcased this fun photo opp by New York Post, giveaways, and these cute cupcakes.
The New York Fashion Week photo opp sort of reminded me of last season’s Daily photo opp where fashionistas were encouraged to pose in front of a fake Daily cover.
During the week, I collected a bunch of fashion week goodies – all to giveaway to a lucky FabGabBlog reader like you! Look out for my next post which will give you a chance to win a New York Fashion Week goody bag.
Til then, here are some photos of goodies from seasons past…
I love costume jewelry. In fact the only “real” piece of jewelry I own and wear is the engagement ring on my left hand and sometimes the Mikimoto ring my husband bought as a souvenir on our trip to Japan. I’m a fan of statement jewelry and recently, I’ve fallen in love with Fenton. Check out these fab finds!
This tribal-inspired piece sort of reminds me of the necklace I wore here. I want this and all of the below!
A more classic – looking option is this Chanel-inspired chain-link and pearl piece with lots of edge. You know how I love anything reminiscent of Chanel!
This multi-pearl, chain, and gem necklace would work perfectly into my wardrobe.
This Fenton-designed necklace can by found at JCrew. So feminine and pretty, right? Michelle Obamathought so,..
