Things I love about NY:

• the freedom to be who you want to be (where else can you live out every dream, dress/act/speak/live in any weird way and still be so accepted, still be so anonymous, still find your niche?)
• endless selection (in restaurants, in people, in things to do, in shopping)
• the eye candy (the beautiful people, the fashions, the cool hotels/lounges, the Parks, the museums, the Christmas windows)
• the silly surprises (organized pillow fights in Union Square, Halloween doggie parades, the Easter bunny ice skating at Rockefeller Center, dancers in the subway train, Hello Kitty in Times Square)
• the feeling you get walking down the streets the feeling of excitement, power, opportunity, romance, wonderment, glamour and possibility.

I heart New York.  What do YOU most love about NYC?

So how do you like my new website design?  It’s going through its last remaining tweaks now and when it’s finally finished, I’m going to be giving away a fab goody bag with contents straight from NY fashion week so check back later!

This photo reminded me of the parasol parade that I witnessed during my trip to Thailand and so I wanted to share some travel photos from last month.

In Chiang Mai, we were lucky enough to watch strolling beauty pageant contestants march in the Parasol parade.

Don’t you just love the color explosion?

I was estatic to be surrounded by so much color and creativity.  Everywhere I looked, I found so many exotic, interesting finds.

I was so tempted to bring back a custom-painted parasol when I saw this catalog of images.  But really, when would I ever use it in NYC?

What would you have had painted?

I love cupcakes.  I make them for every occasion – birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, you name it.  So when I ran across these cupcake cars, I couldn’t help but stare and imagine myself driving down the neighborhood in one of these.  Check it out!

And yes, the car comes with the matching hat! lol  Thanks to the budget-less minds of Neiman Marcus, you can now ride around at 7mph in this gloriously cute cupcake car (ehem for $25,000)

What’s it made of? A 24-volt electric motor, a heavy-duty battery, sheet metal, wire, fabric, wood…and mad genius. Launched at Burning ManSM as a cooperative art car project, the Cupcake Car sprang from the fevered mind of Bay Area artist Lisa Pongrace and her less-rules-more-laughs posse of artists and techno geeks. Aren’t these images beautiful? This unique photography perspective (by Daryl Banks) almost transforms the dancers into flowers or art pieces.

They sort of remind me of these poofy chairs.

I’m in love with baroque frames

So when I saw this designer take on the rock climbing wall I absolutely fell in love with it.  Check it out (from Nendo in Tokyo).

I also love a similar design look of clustering many frames onto one wall.  Can’t climb these though…

I was honored to recently have fashionista stationary named after me and am honored now to have this fashion illustration made for me and FabGab.  Hehe there’s the FabGab iconic chandelier, and some of my favorite things: Chanel purse, bow in hair and dress.  How perfect!

And here’s another NY fashionista illustration that she gave me.  I think the first one is more me.  What do you think?

I’m a fan of Ilse Valfre’s work as she will closely follow all the latest fashions coming down the runway and adoringly illustrate them on her make-believe models.  Speaking of models, this fashion illustrator doesn’t just draw pretty images, she is a pretty image herself and actually models on the side as well!  Check her and her site out!
