Fab Finds: Knomo Laptop Sleeves

Don’t you hate it when function and fashion can’t seem to go together?  There are plenty of functional laptop cases, bags, and sleeves out there but it’s rare to find one that suits a fashionista’s tastes.  During my recent hunt for something to protect my new 17” laptop, I cam across a London based brand called Knomo. If you’re into the look of Chanel’s classic quilting, you’re going to love this!

They offer fashion forward colors (fuschia, black, orange, purple, wine) and prices range from $34 – $99 depending on size needed.   I never thought I’d have to say this but I’m currently on the wait list for a 17”  (black quilted) laptop sleeve.

You’ll be happy to know they also have just as fashionable luggage and ipod cases.  Check out their site!

Fab Finds – Rain Boots

The joy of putting together an outfit that expresses who one is and how one feels at the moment can be deeply satisfying to us fashionistas.   If you’re reading this blog, I’m sure you can relate to the mini-epiphanies I’ve experienced that result from simply matching disparate wardrobe pieces and accessorizing in a previously untried way.  Have you had those Einstein moments where for a silly second you can’t deny your own brilliance in styling? I confess, it gives me a high, a cheap one at that I know, but so what if it can convert what should be a mundane day of errands into something a bit more special?

Some days however, dressing up isn’t exhilarating OR liberating OR identity defining.  Some days you face a wardrobe crisis and you never know when it will hit.  The challenge I faced all week was the non-stop NY rain.  It’s hard to feel fabulous when you know your hair is going to fall flat or turn frizzy.  And it’s hard to have fun with your outfit choices when thoughts of what to wear are dominated by restricting priorities like figuring out what will keep you from feeling cold, wet and clammy.

Luckily, there are fashionable rain boots of all styles, colors and price points to keep us warm.  This week, my eyes have been on the lookout for the best in wellies. From shopping down 5th Ave. to shopping online, here are my fab finds!

Henri Bendel offers these stripe-lined, rubber wellies for $88.  They used to offer brown and white as their only two colors but now they offer hot pink, yellow, red and black.  Which ones would you get?  Aren’t they super cute as well as being affordable?

If you like red boots, check out these Hunter Jimmy Choos!  I love the leopard lining.

Juicy makes a cute printed Wellie for $110 that would look great with a khaki trench.

I’m a sucker for Chanel – anything so my heart pumped a little faster when I spotted these yesterday at Saks. A tougher Chanel boot shown below will cost you $365 and would look great contrasted with a girly or frilly dress.

Here’s a Chanel-like quilted boot by Marc Jacobs($285) that is great if you want a little heel.  I’d wear the black ones with my St. John’s black patent leather tote.

For the Gucci girl there are these modern takes on the wellies that look super comfortable.

These Fendi boots would go great  with my tote bag.  lust!

And of course, who can forget Burberry when talking about anything to do with rain gear? The below accessorized versions are my favorites and are a refreshing change from their usual plaid.

$395In my next post, I’ll show you a couple of the rainy day outfits that I finally settled on .  Did any of you face wardrobe and styling challenges this past week?

Fab Finds – IoMoi

I’ve never wanted a paperweight.  Until now.  I just came across the prettiest paperweights ever at iomoi.com

I suddently find myself needing a “FabGab” $42 paperweight for my desk.  Take a look at these scrumptious patterns.

Aren’t they just perfectly preppy and chic?  Tory Burch would totally die if she knew someone thought of and made these before her.

Much to my delight, I learned from feverishly browsing the rest of their site, that they also make the most beautiful customizable pencils, stationary, lucite trays, tote bags, pillows, ice buckets and more!  See below.

Any of these would make the perfect present for a housewarming gift, a hostess gift, or simply that person who has everything.

Who doesn’t love a personalized and pretty something something?

Fab Finds – Razzle Dazzle at the Miu Miu store

The Miu Miu store in Soho (NYC) was all about the razzle dazzle.  Check out all the glittery and sparkling creations!  They’d make Dorothy from Wizard of Oz scream with joy.

I found myself conflicted.  The girly girl in me loved them and secretly wanted a pair.  But surely, these glittery creations would leave a trail of unwanted sparkles behind me.   I have GPS, no need for the sparkly trail.  Plus I did not want to look like an art project gone bad if I ever needed to click my heels in search of home.  So I did a little fashion research on Polyore to see if others saw these girly glittery shoes as must-haves.  Sorry Miuccia, but I felt both attracted to them at the same time ashamed to wear them.  I mean who would take me seriously wearing such silly things?  I am over the age of 10 after all…

Nonetheless, it was interesting to find the sparkly sets and see how different people used the Miu Miu shoes in their styling.  Which do you like best?  And would YOU wear these?

Storets.com is a Korean-based online shopping site that will have you drooling at the fashion-forward finds while you rave over the prices at the same time.  I’m hooked.  Pictured here are some of the looks that I’m loving.

Here’s a fun bubble skirt that I bought from them and wore to Japan Fashion Week’s show in NYC.

And here’s a skull tote that I bought from them as well.I’m currently eye-ing their striped chain-strap bags which come in black/white and navy/white for only $79.99.  They’re perfectly in line with Spring’s nautical trend!
