FabCam – NYC Fashion Week Part 2

Fashion Week is filled with fashionistas with fab personal style.  This FabCam round-up features fashionistas inside the tents.  If you’re one of the fashionistas featured here, please leave a comment leaving a little detail on what you wore, the look you were going for and a little about yourself!  I hope to hear from you all.  Also, if you would post a link of this blog entry into your FB or twitter I’d so appreciate it!

I loved this fashionista’s mix of masculine and feminine.  The outfit wouldn’t have been the same without the handsome hat.

With flower in hair, ruffles on shirt and killer nude heels, this fashionista works her best model scowl.

Shorts are in.  This girl shows how to dress them up.

Military goes upscale thanks to this lovely blonde inside the tents.

I love how this fashionista effortlessly pairs a lacy black cardi with her nude dress, combining a couple key trends.

I love pairing leather jackets with dresses.   This fashionista does it right by pairing a tight-fitting leather jacket (very on trend) with a cool modern strapless dress and great leather accessories.

This outfit would be perfect for work.  elegant dress, lady bag + statement necklace.  Love it!

This monochromatic look works because of the variation in texture and luxe accessories.  Kudos to this fashionista for being both glamorous and age-appropriate.

Only a model could get away with such a short, choppy boy’s hairdo.  It was the dress though that really caught my eye – so much so that I didn’t even notice that I was photographing the famous Veronica Webb until after I shot her!

Stay tuned for more FabCam updates through the rest of the week!

FabCam – NY Fashion Week Spring 2011 Season

The fashionistas were out in full force.  New venue, great weather, Spring 2011 fashion week..what else would you expect?

See below for some of my favorite groupings.   If you’re one of the lucky fashionistas featured here, please share with the world the details of your outfit and a little bit about yourself.  And please post this blog entry link into your blog, FB and/or twitter.

I thought the young twosome below was adorable.  I wish I was this strikingly put together and stylish at their ripe young age!

These hipsters look like they came straight from the Lower East Side .

I imagine that the below threesome work together at a top fashion magazine.  They are all so supremely stylish.  Mental note to self, aim to look this good when I reach the age of the woman in the middle!

The two lovely ladies below are NYC stylists

The above girls perfectly exemplify the “greige” trend that I wrote about earlier.

The above group had gotten stopped in their tracks so many times by photographers that by the time they got to me, they were visibly perturbed.  Thankfully, they still stopped for a quick photo.  Oh, the perils of being so striking.

The above photo was taken post-fashion show at the Time Warner Building where Jose Duran showed his line at the Samsung Experience.  I found their look so interesting, head-to-toe.

Have any favorites?  Is anyone else as inspired as I am?

My next FabCam posting will be a round-up of NY fashionistas from fashion week standing solo so standby!

FabGab is Featured in See Your Style

I’ve put in a lot of time, effort and love into starting this blog so it is so nice anytime I get recognition from others and love in the form of comments from you all.  Though it has only been 2.5 months, FabGab has accummulated over 7,000 page views, 2 mentions from Polyvore, link love from fellow bloggers, fashion stationary named after me as well as an inclusion in Glamour.com with another Glamour feature on its way.  Today, I’m flattered to announce that another fellow blogger has mentioned FabGab and given me props for my personal style.

See Your Style‘s style-spotting site is founded by Simone who owns an image consultancy.  Based in NY, she teaches “the tenets of Style Therapy” and studies “classic fashion theories.”  Like all of us, she loves Sartorialist style blogs to keep up with the latest trends and savvy fashionistas who define street style.  Sounds like my Fabcam, right?

Here’s the excerpt:

I’ve been in a constant effort to improve my site as I add myself to various fashion blogging networks and learn how to market the blog.  Some of you may have noticed small changes along the way.  For instance I’ve added buttons at the end of each entry making it easier for anyone to share entries on social networking sites, I’ve added buttons for the directories and networks I’m involved with, and I’m constantly editing and adding new WordPress plugins and other tools to improve the site.  Please let me know your feedback.  What would make navigating the site easier or more intuitive?  What are your favorite features or blog categories?  What would you like to see more of?

Please leave feedback in the comments section so I can learn what works and what could use improvement.  Like with my apartment, this blog is in constant makeover mode.

Military Jackets

military jacket – Charlotte Russe, black drop-waisted dress – bought at a Korean boutique, hat -Eugenia Kim bought at a sample sale, suede booties – Restricted bought on sale $69.99,

Today, I wore my military jacket, something I bought last fall at the beginning of the season and something that I’ve sort of gotten bored of styling.  Do you ever get in a styling rut with a piece and end up wearing it the same way over and over?  Given that military is still very in for spring and given that it is still breezy enough to layer up, I’m giving my military black blazer a second chance with a little inspiration from my favorite fashion bloggers.  Sometimes when I get in a style rut I’ll do a search for whatever wardrobe piece I’m puzzled with and instantaneously, I get to see how others around the world styled an item in the same category.  Here is what my most recent “military jacket” search came up with.
LOOKBOOK.nu: I love how this Swedish beauty, Frida pairs military jackets with dresses for a play on masculine -feminine.

LOOKBOOK.nu: Does she not remind you of Avril Levigne?

An edgier look from Andy T.  in Amsterdam who pairs her outfit with the now trendy clog is pictured below.LOOKBOOK.nu:

Marcella from New Zealand rocked her $39 Modcloth jacket below

Nana in Wonderland is wearing a jacket, shirt and stockings all from American Eagle (they actually contacted her about including their brand in her blog) …Hello retailers, you can send me some free clothes to try on and blog about too! This cute San Francisco girl proves that great style doesn’t have to break the bank (hat from Target, H&M jacket and Forever 21 skirt).

Another similarly styled look came from Slumberdoll in the Phillipines.

And finally, Daily Fashion Boost from the Netherlands pairing a H&M jacket with a DIY skirt, bow blouse and a bow for her hair, effortlessly mixing the tough with the girly. What’s your favorite military -inspired piece from your wardrobe and how do you typically style it?
