vintage dress

Guess what ladies, I’m cleaning out my closet which means that there will be some fashion for sale!  I”ll give each item a week’s posting here before turning to ebay to sell my goods.  The first item is a vintage pink ruffled dress that I last wore on my trip to Longwood Gardens in PA.

I wore it here with my silver Prada Saffiano bag and silver ballet slippers but the pink also looks great with white, Tiffany blue, nude, and other pastels.  You could even rough it up by pairing it with a black leather jacket to counter all the girliness.

I loved how the wind kept blowing it up, creating a totally new silhouette.

The dress features cap sleeves and a ruffle-front blouse.

I couldn’t resist having a little fun in the garden while there 🙂

I’ll take best offers but starting bid must be $20 or more.  The size runs like a size 4 (elastic waist fits a size 25”-28” most comfortably) and the dress comes with a matching pink striped tie belt in the same fabric.  You can tie it as a bow in the back like I did, or wear it over a cardigan or another top to literally tie the whole outfit together. Here’s a shot of the back – sorry the flash washed out the color.

So start bidding and don’t forget to leave me your email if you are leaving me a comment else I can’t contact you!

Call me Forever 21.  Yesterday was my birthday and on the plane ride home from the Bahamas where I celebrated, I excitedly flipped through my free New York Fashion Week copy of Teen Vogue.  I love teen movies, teeny bopper music and I love me some Teen Vogue.  What can I say?  The magazine reminded me of the fun time I had visiting their New York Fashion Week Haute Spot.

Here’s a clip of what I saw inside.

You’ll see from their list of events that there was a lot going on.  At the time I was there, they were just finishing up a model open call with IMG and a line was forming for a personal appearance from some Disney star that I never heard of.

What I particularly enjoyed were the fashion trend stations alongside the room’s perimeter.  The 3-D displays were adorable, weren’t they?  They were styled and laid out like giant pages out of the Teen Vogue magazine.

These “prim and proper” and “school girl luxe” boards seemed the most “me.”

But I can see myself wearing bits and pieces from all of these boards!  I guess I am truly Forever 21...strange being that I just celebrated my 30 something birthday..

Speaking of which, every birthday, I give away something on my blog.  This year, I’m giving away the vintage red peplum dress that I wore to the Teen Vogue event shown below and here.

waiting to hear from you….

One of my favorite perks of having this blog is being sent products to review -especially when the products are fashion! recently sent me this vintage, caramel colored dress which they named “Dynasty.”  I loved the sparkly shoulder accents (very Dynasty indeed!) and thought the color would look nice with my hair highlights.   Anyone who reads my blog knows I’m a fan of vintage fashions so I was psyched about the Crazy Hot Clothes giveaway.   The length however needed some adjustment.  The bulky shoulder, long sleeve and long length combo just looked a little too dowdy and made me feel like I walked straight out of the pages of the old testament.  Don’t I look like a glammed up Jesus groupie?

No worries though ‘cuz with a little styling magic, I can transform anything!  The trick to wearing vintage is to avoid wearing vintage head to toe.  Mix up vintage with trendier, current pieces to create a uniquely stylish look.  I searched my wardrobe and found leather cutout ankle booties, hiked up the skirt which I temporarily held up in place with a vintage belt and carried a fun chain feather purse.

Jesus groupie to rock groupie!  What do you think?

Fun party outfit, right?  And now one of you lucky readers will receive this dress for free!  Consider it the dress that keeps giving!  Just leave a comment here about why you think you should win it!

Entrants must:
