I fell in love with this Chanel-inspired, blazer at Zara and knew it would be the perfect addition to my work wardrobe.
Here, I wore it with a BCBG blouse – don’t you love the exposed zipper detail?
The purse is Chanel and though it comes with a pearl chain add on, it is not shown here.

The skirt is Tahari and the shoes are Nine West.
Below, is the same blazer worn with a black top and skirt, St. John tote, bracelets from Express and a chain necklace from Jasmine Boutique.

My co-worker told me I looked like a real-life Tiffany’s box. I think he was right.
Here is my outfit from earlier this week.

The whole outfit actually began with me re-discovering the antique brooch. I created the outfit around the brooch.

I pinned it onto the fur stole that I purchased super cheap and wore it with my Amanda Vinci cardigan and Anne Klein gold, shimmery dress. I belted the outfit with this studded gold piece which helped counter the ladylike look and added a pop of color with my floral fuschia heels. See the dress worn completely differently here.
I love this leather bow purse which I got for Christmas from Saks. It’s by Red Valentino.
This is a mixture of David Yurman, Betsey Johnson (bow and chain) and Forever 21 (bangle) bracelets.

The faux fur coat is Express. The camel vest, Club Monoco. The skirt is Tahari, the polka dot, tie-front blouse is by Lord & Taylor and the heels are Dolce Vita from Saks. I’m thinking about selling the Chanel purse you see here because I fell in love with another one so message me if you want to make an offer! It’s in mint condition.
It’s been a long, long work week. It’s been 10-12 hours /day in fact since I’m working on about 40 events at once and being that I have 21 events just this month to plan, invoice, execute and recap ( on top of handling the PR, local business development and helping to drive retail sales for the store). It is times like these that I start to fantasize about an early retirement. But I can’t complain ‘cuz once I do force myself out of bed, finish my (up to 1hr) commute and step foot into the store, I’m somehow energized. Perhaps it’s the fashion that surrounds me. Perhaps, it’s the people there that I love. Or perhaps it’s simply because we’re all required to smile and be happy in this service culture. ha whatever it is, Saks Fifth Avenue always brings a smile to my face.
At the beginning of each fashion season, it starts to feel overwhelming at work. The meetings are endless, the event planning intense, and the press pitches constant. During the first few months of the season, I live, breathe and dream work. And I obsess about it just to stay on top of all the details. February and March for instance, are filled with 10 and sometimes 12 hour days. To keep me motivated and looking forward to another work day, sometimes I use fashion as a fun way to brighten my load.
The most memorable part of this outfit was the exciting moment when I discovered that my dollar store, colored tights perfectly matched this skirt that I had nearly forgotten about. The skirt was purchased at a NJ Korean boutique and I couldn’t wait to dust it off and wear it to work. The tights just gave it new life and energy.
I wore it with an H&M puff-sleeve blazer and tie-front blouse that I bought from Lord & Taylor during their post-Christmas sale. The hat is vintage. I think the last time I wore it was in the ’80s.
The shoes are patent leather Nine West and the tote bag is Juicy. I love that it has side pockets to conveniently carry my cell phone and blackberry.

I get away with wearing fun dresses to work ‘cuz I work in fashion. One such dress is this leopard number which if worn alone looks pretty sexy with its cutout sleeves, but under a more official looking blazer, it quickly becomes more work appropriate.

Cut 25 blazer. leopard dress by Fiori Di Zucca. Chanel purse. Suede fringed boots by Go Max and necklace by Express.
What I love about this blazer are the leather elbow pads. It adds an interesting masculine touch to the otherwise, slim-fitting, feminine blazer.
And ladies, I’m taking bids on this new Chanel purse! It’s authentic and hardly used. I simply fell in love with another and need to see if I can sell this…

The best part of my day was that I came home with a free set of Chanel make-up brushes! They were about to throw out this and another set exactly like it so my co-worker and I quickly offered to save them from the dumpster. (they’re replacing the sample sets because a newer version and design is coming out). I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand the thought of throwing away something so precious. Here are my new take-home items!

I bought a lot of souvenirs from my trip to Thailand - with everything being so affordable, how could I resist?! Most of course were fashion souvenirs…the best kind in my book. One unique piece that I wore for the first time at work today was this gold lacy necklace. I loved the detail and how ornate it looked. I thought it was really special.

The dress is by Anne Klein.
The checkered blazer is by Miss Me and the chain-link tote is St. John.

I am so disgusted. I’m watching ENews and I just saw this shocking clip of (topless) Scott Disick asking a topless Kris Humphries to shave his armpits. And then Kris obliges. EW EW EW.
Anyways, haha here is what I wore to work today.
This is my Sinclaire trench coat from Saks Fifth Avenue. I wore it out with a detachable fur stole also from Saks.
The back bow is what makes this trench coat so special.
studded headband
This is a navy halter dress by Rebecca Taylor that I bought at Bergdorf Goodman years ago. I love wearing it in the summer but also can easily transition it for the cooler months as shown in an earlier post here.
I winterized the dress by adding tights in a fun contrasting color. Can you believe I purchased them at the dollar store??
The shoes are BCBG and the green purse is vintage (stolen from my mom’s closet)
The blazer is Forever 21 ladies. My co-worker thought it was Marc by Marc Jacobs.
I took the skirt from a 2piece Calvin Klein suit and have been using it as a separate lately. Here’s the full suit.

I take weird pleasure in challenging myself to never wear the same look twice. Taking just the red skirt from the suit above I created these work-appropriate outfits. Which one do you like best?

A lot of fashionistas blog about their style but not a lot blog about what to wear to work. How does one transform the conservative suit into something special and fashionable? Working in corporate fashion challenges me to test my styling skills in this manner 5-6days a week. And because of it, I feel I’ve honed my styling skills when it comes to what to wear to work. Here are a couple outfit examples from the past week.
Here, I’m wearing a tank from Ann Taylor and suit from Anne Klein. Both those basics could have been pretty simple and plain on their own but I added the fur stole for a little glam, kept my hair long and wavy (which helped keep the look less austere) and carried a designer tote. Sometimes the accessories make your outfit. It was sort of inspired from another Ann Taylor catalog look that I fell in love with. See it here.
Isn’t the look gorgeous? You can shop for it here. Ever thought about wearing a belted fur vest over a suit? Well this picture may just have you doing exactly that.
Yesterday, I wore another Ann Taylor top (hey what can I say, they had an amazing sale this weekend), with my Victoria Secret slacks and modern blazer from Brooklyn Industries. I’ve never worn this pair of pants with this blazer but I find it really works as an alternative to the traditional suit. Sorry the lighting sucks in my bedroom!
I’m loving this metallic blouse because it’s perfect as a layering piece in the trendy lace, has a cool exposed zipper and also works worn alone since it has sleeves. Since the lace was girly, I paired it with tougher accessories including a chain bracelet (which is actually a chain taken off one of my totes), a black bling bracelet and matching earrings. Voila! cook work wear.
Here are a couple other shots that I loved and wanted to share.

I’m constantly converting my day dresses into something more appropriate for work. And why not? I’m all about making my clothes work double-duty. In this case, all it takes is a blazer and making sure the skirt length is appropriate. Here, I’m wearing a Rebecca Taylor navy dress with pom pom trim.
Here is a close-up of the dress’s skirt under the military, Forever 21 blazer.
The shoes are Christian Louboutin lucite stilettos with yellow bows down the middle that I found at a high-end consignment store. And the tote is Juicy Couture.
Here’s the back of the blazer – loving the feminine ruffles and how they offset the masculine military details.
